The morning in Solara felt different after the plaza incident. Sunlight poured over the city, bouncing off the glass towers and solar panels, but Kaia Lumen could not shake the feeling that something dark was still watching. The crystal, now safely tucked in her backpack, pulsed faintly with energy, reminding her that her new responsibility as a guardian was only beginning.

Niko walked beside her, hands in his pockets, his expression a mix of excitement and concern. “So… we survived our first attack,” he said, kicking a small pebble across the plaza. “But somehow I feel like that was just the trailer. The real movie is about to start.”

Their first stop was the old solar towers where Kaia had found the crystal. The area was abandoned, overgrown with vines and creeping shadows, but it was the perfect place for training. Kaia set the crystal on a smooth platform, and as soon as she did, it began to hum, glowing brighter. A surge of energy shot through her, and she instinctively raised her hands, sending beams of golden light into the surrounding air.

The light struck a metal beam, causing it to lift and hover. She gasped in astonishment. “I… I made it move! I didn’t even think about it!”

Niko clapped his hands, sparks flickering from his boots. “See? You’re already controlling it. Sort of. We just need practice. Think of it like… a muscle. You flex it, you train it, you grow stronger.”

Kaia took a deep breath, focusing on the energy flowing through her. The crystal’s glow intensified, and the light rippled outward like liquid gold. Niko’s boots sparked as he launched himself into action. “Perfect. Training and battle at the same time. My favorite combo.”

The shadow figures advanced, wielding dark energy that seemed to sap the color from the world. Kaia focused, sending arcs of light toward them, deflecting attacks and forming protective shields around both of them. She realized that the crystal responded not just to her thoughts, but to her emotions, and that maintaining calm allowed her light to flow more steadily.
